Shri Pralhad P. Chhabria Awards
Hope Foundation in association with the IEEE India Council and Women In Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Pune Section has instituted the Pralhad P. Chhabria Awards from the year 2017, in memory of Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria, Founder President, Hope Foundation. These awards applaud young women for their achievements in undergraduate science / engineering college and/or professional arena.
The Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Awards aim to revere knowledge, recognize achievements and social contributions of young women in the domains of Science, Engineering and Technology
- The mission of these awards is to honour academic & professional achievements and support and grow the “women engineers’ community”.
- This award is aimed at instilling in young women engineers the confidence that they are equal to, if not better than, young men and deserve every opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities.
- The intent of this prize is to encourage female students to be courageous to pursue their professional and personal aspirations and not allow gender biases hinder their path to success.
- The award endeavours to become one of the most prestigious national awards, which aims to nurture strong-willed women science/ engineering/ technology to shape the future of our world.
Purpose
The purpose of Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Award is to celebrate the achievements of young women in the domains of science, engineering and/or technology and motivate them to continue on their path towards the greater good.
The first TWO awards (BEST OUTGOING FEMALE STUDENT in her final year of undergraduate studies) is meant to applaud the Winner and the Runner Up for their academic achievement throughout their under-grad years. Having maintained not only excellent grades their contributions towards their institute, their university and/or the community will be taken into consideration.
The next TWO awards (BEST WOMAN PROFESSIONAL in her early career) is an acknowledgement of the achievements of the Winner and the Runner Up young women who have been successfully contributing to technological, economic and/or social development of the nation.

- X marksheet (CGPA clearly mentioned) or equivalent Secondary School Leaving Certificate
- XII marksheet (CGPA clearly mentioned) or equivalent Pre-University Level Marksheet
- First Year Bachelor Degree mark sheet (consolidated / semester wise – with SGPA or marks clearly mentioned)
- Second Year Bachelor Degree mark sheet (consolidated / semester wise – with SGPA or marksclearly mentioned)
- Third Year Bachelor Degree mark sheet (consolidated / semester wise – with SGPA or marksclearly mentioned)
- Fourth Year Bachelor Degree mark sheet (consolidated / semester wise with SGPA or marksclearly mentioned)
- Proof of Nationality – Scanned copy of Valid Passport / Voter’s ID / Driving License
- Co-Curricular Achievements (during undergraduate years and later)
- Meritorious certificates related to achievements in the areas of research / conferences / academic / patents and others
- Internship / Assistantship undertaken and completed successfully and/or grants received
- Extra-Curricular Achievements (during undergraduate years and later)
- Certificates to prove social contributions and achievements in sports and leadership skills
- Special achievements in areas that go beyond prescribed academic curriculum
- Work Experience (Award III & Award IV)
- Copies of certificates that validate the number of years of experience and designation held
- Certificate to indicate special achievement/s during the tenure in the organization
- Write-ups (from 200 – 250 words only)
- Achievements during the last five years
- Work Profile (present & previous) – (Only for Award III & Award IV)
- Contributions made
- Statement of Worthiness – (why the nominee feels that she would be worthy of this award)
- Recommendation Letters
*for applicants who are pursuing their three-year degree programs can submit mark sheet up to VI semester
**for applicants who are pursuing their four-year degree programs can submit mark sheet up to VII semester
- Individuals desirous of being considered for any of the Awards, can either self-nominate or be nominated by another individual
- The application / nomination will have to be filled online.

Eligibility
Award Nominee must be
- Current IEEE Member or should have been an IEEE Member for a duration of 1 year at least within the previous 3 years from the year of application.
- An IEEE Woman in Engineering membership is desirable though not necessary.
- Bonafide Citizen of one of the SAARC Country (essential for applicants from SAARC countries)
- Applicant should be a resident of the country for the last two years at least.
Award No. I & II
The award is open to Women Students pursing science, engineering or technology education in any of the SAARC Country and is in the final year of undergraduate studies and has been an outstanding achiever throughout her education. Demonstration of originality and innovation in the respective field/s of work is mandatory.
Award No. III & IV
The award is open to Professional Women in science, technology or engineering actively working for at least 3-7 years in India or any of the SAARC Country in the field of her related knowledge and skills for economic development of the community and /or country. Demonstration of originality and innovation in the respective field/s of work is mandatory.
Note: The jury may change and/or elevate the eligibility criteria in case of huge response and also jury’s decision shall be final.
